"Gordon's Carbine" was one of the more iconic SFOD-D (Delta) derivations of the CAR15 / M16A2 carbine that pre-dated and had a direct influence to the U.S. development of the M4 carbine. While MSG Gary Gordon was most known for this rifle in popular culture, the combination of the OPS Inc Model 12 suppressor with the CAR15 was well-loved in "the Unit".

The usage of Aimpoint red dots on top of the carry handle iron sights were also a positive push towards what we see nowadays. While the height over-bore had been a concern for people in the past, it is actually a very comfortable heads-up arrangement that coincides with the current employment of high-mounted optics.
